The holiday season is a time of reflection and pausing to express appreciation for what we have. This is not only true for families, but, for businesses as well. Letting your customers and employees know they are appreciated will go a long way. Here are some ideas of sending holiday greetings from your business from Business Writing.
For customers and employees
Because some customers may not celebrate Christmas or Hanukkah, it may be best to concentrate on New Year’s which everyone celebrates. The message should be clear they are valued.
A customer greeting could read: “Thank you for your business this year. We look forward to contributing to your success in the new year!”
Or: “As the year ends, we think about all we are grateful for. Our relationship with you is one thing we treasure. Thank you for the opportunity to serve you. We wish you Happy Holidays and much success in the new year!”
To an employee or vendor: “As gifts are given and received this holiday season, I think of the gift of knowing you. Thank you for the pleasure of working with you. Happy Holidays!”
An employee message could read as follows: “Happy New Year! Yes, we survived another year. In fact, we thrived because of your amazing hard work, creativity, and dedication. I am personally grateful to you for your tremendous efforts, and I wish you a rewarding, joyous new year. I look forward to our working together for years to come!”
Email holiday greetings?
If email is the only way you communicate with your customers or employees, then email it is. But, make sure you personalize the greeting. Don’t write, “Dear customer” or “Dear employee.” It might just as well say, “Dear Stranger.” Use the person’s name in the greeting.
If you have mailing addresses and the time and funds, purchase greeting cards and mail them out. Avoid religious messages.
Sign the cards instead of a typed signature. A personalized card is meaningful and more sincere.
Change your voicemail greeting to a holiday one. Keep it short and simple. “Happy Holidays from XYZ Company” Also, your voicemail should include your holiday hours and the days you are closed.
Remember to change your email signature to include a holiday greeting. Additionally, if you are going to be closed certain days, don’t forget to set your “out of the office” email response and the days you are closed or not available.
